Myra Bairstow is an independent art scholar, curator and writer. She is one of the leading researchers on the painting entitled ‘Suicide of Dorothy Hale’ by artist Frida Kahlo. Her play, “The Rise of Dorothy Hale” was produced off-broadway. Ms. Bairstow and the cast members were featured guests of NASDAQ to ring the closing bell. Ms. Bairstow was featured in Philadelphia’s NBC 10 documentary on Frida Kahlo. This documentary, entitled ‘Frida’, was filmed in conjunction with the traveling Kahlo exhibit “Frida Kahlo: National Homage 1907-2007” at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. She has lectured on Kahlo and Hale at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). Ms. Bairstow’s lecture was presented at LACMA’S Bing Theatre in conjunction with the exhibition “In Wonderland: The Surrealist Adventures of Women Artist in Mexico and the United States.” In addition, she has managed the Estate of American Modernist Manierre Dawson for over a decade. Ms. Bairstow is the co-author of the Manierre Dawson Catalogue Raisonné and has curated numerous Dawson exhibitions in the United States.
